NYSED Professional Development Information - New registration and continuing teacher and leader education (CTLE) requirements for classroom teachers and school leaders holding a Permanent or Professional certificate, Teaching Assistant Level III certificate holders

NYSED: NEW REGISTRATION REGULATIONS

CTLE: CONTINUING TEACHER AND LEADER EDUCATION

Highlights

  • 3 main areas of the new law:

    • Registration:  Beginning July 1, 2016, all permanently or professionally certified administrators, teachers and/or Level III teaching assistant certificate holders will be required to register every 5 years with NYSED through their TEACH account

      • Birth Month for the initial registration (penalty fee for late registration)

      • Renewal in the last year of each subsequent 5 year period (during birth month)

    • Individuals who hold a professional certificate must complete a minimum of 100 hours of professional development every 5 years

    • PD must be completed through a NYSED approved sponsor
